Explore Aspects of Your Self
through Collage
Tuesdays, May 13, 20, 27 and June 3
Sec 1: Mornings: 10-12am
Sec 2: Evenings: 7-9pm
This four week workshop uses an intuitive collage process to create Face Cards; 5”x8” cards reflecting various aspects of ourselves. Perhaps the most rewarding part of this process is the time spent searching for and organizing the images for our cards . Having created several Face Cards, we will learn how to dialogue with these cards, discerning messages that are relevant to our day-to-day lives . Facilitator and contact person: Carole
No previous art or collage experience is necessary. We are all on a journey; bring with you an openness to experiencing and sharing yours.
Fee: $60 (includes materials)
Mandala Meditation Group — This group integrates brief meditations and sharing with mandala drawing and other forms of creative expression including music, cluster writing, and free verse. Facilitator and contact person: Carole

The Joy of Breathing — This four-week class helps reduce stress, improve physical health, and cultivate peace of mind. We breathe over 15,000 times every day, and each breath affects the immune system, the nervous system, the heart, the digestion--literally every aspect of our health and wellbeing. Babies breathe naturally, but by adulthood, most Americans are literally holding their breath, and don't even know it! This class teaches self-awareness and simple, natural techniques you can use every day to increase your energy and lift your spirits. Facilitator and contact person: Paula
Time: Next offering TBA
Fee: $70
Mandalas: What Are They? — Curious about these circular drawings? What are they? What might the practice of creating mandalas have to offer? Spend an evening learning about, creating, and dialoguing with your very own mandala. Contact person: Carole
Time: Next offering TBA
Fee: Free and open to the public
Qigong Practice — Qigong (pronounced chee-gung) is a 5000-year old practice of healing through balancing the body’s energy system. The practice of qigong includes directed meditations and exercises using gentle movement, breath, and visualization to increase the flow of “qi” or energy through the body. Qigong has been used to increase flexibility and balance, assist with weight management, reduce anxiety, reduce pain, and heal the spirit. Qigong is increasingly being offered in integrated clinics and wellness centers throughout the United States.
Qigong can be done standing or sitting and is accessible to all ages and to those with physical challenges. There are many flavors of qigong; these sessions will be teaching and practicing Spring Forest Qigong. Facilitators: Carole and Paula, Contact person: Carole

Qigong
Qigong (pronounced chee-gung) is a 5000-year old practice from China that promotes healing by balancing the body’s energy system. The practice includes gentle physical exercises, breathing techniques, visualizations and meditations designed to increase the flow of “qi” (vital energy) through the body.
Even people who have difficulty moving their bodies can experience the benefits of qigong. Many exercises can be done seated or can be visualized. Regular practice of qigong leads to increased vitality, improved physical health, mental clarity, and a peaceful spirit.
There are literally hundreds of forms of qigong developed for different purposes. Our classes teach Spring Forest Qigong, a form developed by Master Chunyi Lin.
Each session will include instruction and practice with Qigong active exercises and a brief meditation led by Carole McNamee and/or Paula Markham. Both have studied Qigong with Master Chunyi Lin in Minneapolis and maintain their own practices in Blacksburg.
